Show 1W0 HMD MEN PUS1BUJ. WO! Twelve Miles of Double Track Under Construction Construc-tion at Present. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, April 30. With 1800 men employed on the double-track work of the twelve-mile stretch between Emory and "Wasatch, fully 2000 men are said to be employed in construction work for the Union Pacific railroad between Ofj-den Ofj-den and Evanston, Wvo., at the present time. This is the report of Ogden men employed in the work and who spend Sundays in this city. Although the contract for the double-track double-track work was awarded to Kilpatrick Brothers & Collins of Denver, nearly all of the construction has been let out under sub-contracts. Within the stretch of twelve miles fifteen steam shovels are in operation twenty-four hours a day. Most, of the work in preparation for the additional track is being done in solid rock. As in the case of the additional track between East Ogden and Gateway, opened a few months ago, the new track between Wasatch and Emory will jbe the eastbound track. The usual traffic regulations reg-ulations are changed about because the new track for the entire distance will have a lesser grade. In addition to the double-track workers, men in the direct employ of the railroad are putting in a new bridge over the Weber river at Devil's Gate. It is to be a stool three-span three-span structure. Although the contract calls for completion com-pletion of the twelve miles of additional track by January 1, 1917, it is considered consid-ered hardly probable that it can be placed in operation by that time. Work has scarcely been startod on 2000 feet of tunnel. |
