Show ARGENTINE ENVOY CONFIDENT THERE WILL BE PEACE NEW YORK. June 2S. Romulo S. Naon, Argentine embassador to the. United States, issued a statement here todav, in which he said that, while he had made no offer of mediation looking to the settlement set-tlement of the differences between tho United States and Mexico, he was "in candor eonfldent that the present crisis will be peacefully settled." The formal statement of the embassador, embassa-dor, prompted, he said, bv published reports re-ports that he had offered mediation to thA United States, says: "I have made no offer, but' It is unnecessary un-necessary to say that the Argentine government gov-ernment is always disposed to work for the peace of America. "Pan-Americanism, which is vital for alt the countries of the continent, whether wheth-er great or small, strong or weak, makes ai war between two American nations utterly inconceivable. I am, in candor confident that the present crisis will he peacefulh- settled. We must make evident, evi-dent, that no matter hm- great the differences dif-ferences between the two American govern gov-ern me tits the continental interests of union and concord are supreme and inconsistent in-consistent with i-pcuurse to violence as a means nf settling international disprfs in America." Embassador Naon would not dicus what basis he had for his feeling of confidence. |
