Show COMMITTEES NAMED TO WELCOME HUGHES Appointments Made by Republican Re-publican State Chairman Glen Miller. TO GO TO STATE LINE Active Republicans Will Greet Party Nominee on Visit Thursday. ! Glen Miller, chairman of the Republican state committee, yesterday announced the appointment of the general reception committee to receive Governor Charles IS. Hughes, the Republican nominee for president, and his party when Mr. Hughea visits Utah next Thursday, August 24, on hie "swing around tlie circle." The general recepition committee Is headed by United titates Senator George Sutherland. The senator also heuds a special committee which will meet the Hughes party at the Nevada line on the morning of the 24th and accompany it to Ogden, the first stop the visitors will make in Utah. In the party which will go to the state line to meet Governor Hughes there will be, besides .Senator Sutherland. Governor William Spry, Nephi L.. Morris, the Republican Re-publican nominee for governor of Utah; State Chairman Glen Miller, C W. Nib-icy, Nib-icy, former United States Senator Thomas K earns, A. D. McMullen, E. H. Calllster. D. S. Spencer, W. S.. McCor-nick McCor-nick and R. W. Salisbury. Private Car Offered. The Oregon Short Line has proffered tills committee the use of a private car to make the trip to the line. This car will be attached to the Hughes car and will remain a part of the Hughes train while the presidential candidate is here. The Hughes party is scheduled to arrive ar-rive in Ogden at 11 :45 Southern Pacific time, which Is an hour later than mountain moun-tain time. There will be a mass meeting at the Alhambra theater Ogden, in the afternoon, at which Governor Hughea will speak. Following ' that meeting, at 4 o'clock. Governor Hughes and hla hosts will depart de-part for Salt Lake, arriving In this city at 6 o'clock. The party will go at once to the Hotel Utah, where reservations will have been made, and the visitors will rest until dinner, unless they elect to take a brief auto trip through the city. The Hughes meeting here in the evening even-ing will begin at 8 o'clock at the Mormon Mor-mon tabernacle. Indications are that the capacity of that Kreat auditorium will be taxed, so great is the interest in hearing hear-ing the presidential candidate. Following Follow-ing the meeting there wilt be a reception in the ballroom of the Hotel Utah, at which time local Republicans will have an opportunity of meeting Governor and Mrs. Hughes. After the reception the Hughea party will repair to its private cars and tho special will leave at midnight mid-night for Cheyenne. Committee Named.
