One world's record was broken, another was equaled, but not allowed, and several far western west-ern records were bettered In the A. A. U. track and field meet held at the stadium here today. Pan Francisco athletes', grouped in the Pacific association, won the majority of the events with a total of l'U points, with their rivals from southern California ;mh1 Arizona, grouped as the Southern Pacific Pa-cific association, second, with T2 points. The Northwestern association, including Oregon. Washington, Alaska. Idaho ami Montana, was third with 2'.) points, a nd the Inter m.nin tain association, comprising part of Montana, Idaho and L'tah, fourth, with o points. John Norton of the Olympic club, San Francisco, way credited with breaking the world's record in the 220-yard low hurdles on a curved track, his time being 24 l-o seconds, one-fifth of a second faster than the record formerly In1 Id by Fred Kelley of the Los Anceles Athletic club. Tn the 120-yard hifrh hurdles, Kelley equaled the world's record of 14 l-f seconds sec-onds and h: oke the far western record of 15 seconds. Kclley's run was not recognized as equalling the world's record rec-ord "because of the fact.- that he knocked over a hurdle.
