Show RECOMMENDS LAW j TO INSURE AUTOS State Commissioner Will Advise Governor Gov-ernor That New Statute Is Deemed Desirable. Pursuant to action of the National Convention of Insurance Commissioners recently, in recommending legislation in all states fixing a standard of coverage in automobile insurance. John James, I state insurance commissioner of Utah, will recommend to the governor in his annual report that the governor recommend recom-mend to the next legislature such legislation legis-lation in this state. The convention took the stand that the laws of the states should be so amended as to permit fire insurauce companies to insure automobiles against all hazards, except injury to the person, which, of course, has to be handled by the casualty companies. Under the present law a person desiring de-siring to carry insurance on a machitie has to get it insured against fire in a fire company, against theft in a theft company, against damage in o.n accident company, and against other forms of loss or injury in separate companies authorized author-ized to insure for the particular hazard it is desired to cover. This, Mr. James points out, causes much confusion and trouble and the suggested sug-gested change would simplify matters greatly. |
