MAMMOTH MOT SPRINGS, Yellowstone Yellow-stone park, Wj o., Sept. 12, One of the most important actions in connection with the development of the scenic attractions of the west, became effective; here when a new national association was formed today to be known as the "United States Na tional T lighway Park association." I he purpose being to develop and build a permanent per-manent automobile circle highway which will begin and crid in Denver, and include in-clude a circle of all the national parks in the west. ' The new automobile 'highway will start at Denver, and. following a tour of the new Rocky mountain park, will go to Cheyenne. Thence to the Cody entrance of tnS Yellowstone, out of the park by the Gardiner gateway to Glacier National park In Montana, thence to Mount Rainier National park in Washington, the proposed pro-posed Mount Hood National and Cratei I National I -akc parks In Oregon, the Yo-semite Yo-semite and Sequoia parks In California; thence by a now-established direct route to Salt T,ake 'ity and through Colorado over the Midland trail through Rerthoud pasB hack to Denver, a total approximate Journey of 3600 miles. - 4 Assistant Secretary Stephen T. Matter, now making an automobile tour of the park, Is the father of the new association and will recommend that the new highway be built. |
