Show OAKS WIN 10 FROM BEAVERS ON fit MY Elliotteers Make Both Victories Vic-tories Decisive, First by 6 to 3 Score and Second Sec-ond 8 to 1. ERRORS FIGURE IN DOUBLE TROUNCING Higginbotham Touched for Fifteen Swats in Forenoon Fore-noon ; Prough Steady in Afternoon. Special to The Tribune. S.N FRANCISCO. Sept. 12. The Oaks actually looked like a ball club in both games today. This morning they handed a tj-to-3 beating to the Beaver.-, and won. 8 to 1, in the afternoon. In all, the Oaklanders walloped o!d Irvc Higginbotham for fifteen blows, and eight of these were bunched in the sixth and seventh innings of the first game. Rowdy's gang went out in the lead in the first inning, when Tanner got the first of his three hits and Middleton followed witli a triple. The Beavers rushed into the lead in the third when Pruiett weakened weak-ened a bit. A couple of scratch infield hits, Pruiett e error and Stumpf" s single through short scored three runs. The big thing came in the sixth. With one out, Gardner singlec. EUHott was safe on Ward's error, and Duddy singled to left for a score. Pruiett beat out an infield hit. and. with the bases full, Tanner Tan-ner and Middleton singled in succession, three more runs tallying. Singles by Ness and Elliott counted another an-other in the seventh. Everybody on the Beaverville team seemed to be going wrong- in the afternoon, after-noon, and the errors proved of the expensive expen-sive sort, the final score being S to L Prough was tacky to get off to a running run-ning start, and when Clinton Is out in front, he is well nigh unbeatable. Johnston was the first to tally. In the second he bumped the ball against the fence, was sacrificed to second by Ness, went along to third on an infield out and was driven home by Elliott. The Beavers spilled their on beans in the fourth. Middleton' grounder bounced over Bates to lefjt. Johnston hit in the same direction, and after Ness had fanned, Gardner hit Roxy home with a swat to center. Elliott flied to Lober. but Bates booted Duddy's drive for the second run of the inning. Prough hit to the infield, but Ward took his place among the erring Beavers for a boot, and Gardner made the circuit. The fifth was just as bad. if not worse, Oakland seeing three runs flash across the rubber. Tlwt was the end of Coveleskie. Evans pitched the three innings that remained, and got away with but one run. PORTLAND. AB. R. H. PO. A. E. Lober, cf 4 1 1 3 1 0 South-worth.
