The British steamer Garnoy of Liverpool was rlred upon and sunk by a German submarine last night. The attack upon the Garnov was made off Cape Baleines. near I -a Roehelle The crew was saved by the fishing boat Mon- revl. The captain of the fishing boat . Morse brought the news to this port today. to-day. One small boat from the Uarnov. .with the captain and fourteen members I of the crew on board, is missing;, it la believed to have reached another port. PARIS. Sep:. S. m:6 a. m. The I Frens-h steamship Guatemala , has been I torpedoed and sunk about fiftv miles off Belle Isle. Her crew escaped in two boats. The men were licked up bv a British steamer and taken into, St. Na-zaire. Na-zaire. The Guatemala was bound from St. Xa aaire for Philadelphia. The Guatemala. 5P13 tons gross and 3S7 feet lone, was owned by the Oompagnie Genera le Transatlantique. which also owned the Bordeaux, the sinking of which by a submarine was announced yesterday.
