Fireman Fire-man EJmer John was killed, Kagineer William Kinp was fatally injured and tort v-thrtw passenger, and seven trainmen train-men received minor injuries when through passenger train No. 20, from Salt Lake to Denver, on the Denver k Rio Grande railroad, era-hed head-on into freight train No. 83 one mile east of Mitchell. Colo., in Tennessee pass early thij morning. The collision occurred oc-curred on a high embankment aud had the passenger cars left the rails they would have gone 200 feet down the side of the pass. Xone of the passengers passen-gers Ls believed to be fatally hurt. The train was a double-header. None of the oars left the track, .but both of tbe pa.cseitger engines aud the engine of the freight train were derailed. The locomotive in which John was riding turned on its side, pinning him under it. The cause of the accident has not been established, but is thought to have been due to a mistake in traiD orders. John was alive when his body was taken from the wreck, but he died on the way to the Salida hospital. He was badly crushed and, like King, was scalded by the escaping steam. Passenger Pas-senger train No. 20 operated from Salt "Lake City by the Rio Grande and was filled with tourists homcbound from the Panama-Pacific exposition. A relief train was immediately started start-ed from Salida. It returned there at 1:40 o'clock this afternoon with John's body on board. A list of tbe injured passengers follows: fol-lows: James R.
