Show COPPER REFINERY fflJUICTEB Amalgamated Officials Meet at Great Falls and Discuss Rebuilding Plant, Showing- their unlimited faith in tho return of prosperity for the copper-mine owners of the state, and in the near approach ap-proach of the time when the industry will require greater facilities for handling the ore and making the finished product than now exist, John D. Ryan, "president of the Amalgamated Copper company, and B. B. Thayer, president of the Anaconda Copper Cop-per Mining company, have met. in Great Fulls in company with C K. Kelley and other local officials of the Anaconda Copper Cop-per Mining company to confer regarding the plans that have been under consideration consid-eration for some time- These call for the reconstruction and enlarging of the Great Falls smelter and the construction of a copper retinerv. It is authoritatively stated that extensive exten-sive improvements and construction plans for both Butte and Anaconda will receive the consideration of the ofllcers of the companies and that they will go to Butte Immediately after completing their investigation at Great Falls. Progress at Anaconda and the showing made under difficulties have been so favorable that it is believed by those htph in authority that a part of the Anaconda Ana-conda plant will be rebuilt and extensive additions made. These proposed improvements improve-ments will he decided on at the conference confer-ence which Mr. Ryan and Mr. Thayer have come west to attend. They are both deeply interested in the development and extension work being done by the Montana Power company and will visit somo of the company's plants before returning re-turning to the east. |
