Show MRS. C. M. JOHNSTON SUCCUMBS TO CANCER "Mrs. Catherine M. Johnston died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home or" her daughter. Mrs. J. C. Perks. Ml First avenue. Heath was due to exhaustion exhaus-tion resultant upon cancer of the esophagus, esopha-gus, Mrs. Johnston's Illness extended over a period of twelve months, during the hitter hit-ter nine months of which she was confined con-fined to her bed. At times, particularly since Thanksgiving day. her sutYering was intense, but she bore her affliction" with , patience. Her first husband was "William Maher, an attache of the New Found land colonial government. Her second husband was Captain J. S. Jnhnston. a satlin master. who lost his life in the pursuit of his calling. .With her three daughters, Mrs. Johnston John-ston came to the Tolled States twentv years ao. The famllv resided varlouslV at HcHtrlce, Neb., St." Joseph, Mo., Ch-caiTO Ch-caiTO and Salt Uike. She had been here about xlx years. She leaves three daughtersMrs. daugh-tersMrs. J. i Perks. Mrs. J. Kruus nnd Miss Ai;nes Johnston all of whom live in this city. Mrs. John H. Tavlor of this rlty is a sister. There is a brother In Canada and another In Australia. Mrs. Johnston was j devout Catholic an. I in her last hours she received the last rites of her faith. The funeral will be held Sundav afternoon after-noon at 1 :;:0 oVloek, with services at St Mary's I'aiholic cathedral. Hurial will be in Calvary cemetery.
