Show WELSH GLEE CLUB PLEASES BIG CROWD Royal Gwent Singers Give Excellent Programme at the First. Con- gregational Church. For ensemble work of a hich order it would be difficult to surpass tbe artistic ar-tistic rendition of the Royal Gwent Welsh Glee Ringers, who appeared last night in concert at the First 'Jongre-1 national church under the auspices of the Ladies' Aid society. A large audience audi-ence heartily applauded every number on the well-chosen programme and encores en-cores were the order of the evening. The musical director, G. F. Davies, shows unusual talent in the handling' of his singers and without affectation secures an effect that is neldom heard. The splendid "March of the Men Harlech" Har-lech" (the arrangement by Brinkley Richards), which opened the programme, was a fair example of the chorus work throughout. The duet (Cooke). "Love and War," by Ben Davies and Taran-lais Taran-lais Hopkins, brought two encores, the wonderful baas of Mr. Hopkins being heard with good effect. W. Spencer Hill proved himself an excellent accompanist. The ensemble of the "Blue Danube Waltz" (Strauss) was well given. Among the other numbers that were creditably given were: Chorus, Sextette Sex-tette from "Lucia de Lammermoor" (Donnizetti), ensemble; solo, "Will o' the Wisp" (Cherry), T. Taranlaia Hopkins; Hop-kins; duet, "The Two Beggars' (Lane Wilson), J. L. Bebb and Talfa Jones; chorus, "The Martyrs of the Arena" (De Rille), ensemble; solo, "I Hear You Calling Me" (Marshall).
