Show REPUBLICANS DEFER CHOICE OF LEADER j Representative Mann Will Probably Head Minority in House; Secret Caucus Scored. WASHINGTON, Feb. 10. Republicans Republic-ans of the house determined today to ilefer their minority reorganization until un-til the Thursday night preceding the first session of the next congress. In the conference held to discuss plans. Representative Mann of Illinois was generally referred to as his own successor suc-cessor as minority leader. Caucus rule was discussed, Representative Represent-ative Cooper of Wisconsin protesting against the use of the word caucus in connection with meetings of Republican members, and assorting that the dev of secret caucuses bad passed. This drew from Representative Mann a remark that the "timo might come when wo have to bring to bear all the binding force we can." At Mr. Marin's sug-j gestion the question of whether there shall be caucuses or "open air meetings" meet-ings" was left to be decided at the reorganization re-organization meeting. In reference to committee assign ments, R-eprCPentative Mann paid the Progressives had not agreed whether they should get their assignments from the Eepublicaus or the Democrats. |
