The extent of tho ore has not yet been determined. The company recently purchased a number of adjoining claimH, Including a portion por-tion of the Burke townnlte. Hecla Opens Ore at Depth. In the HecJa mine, at Burke, a promising prom-ising body of milling ore has been opened on the 1600 level. According to James F. McCarthy, president and general gen-eral manager of the company, there are live feet of good milling ore In a drift ten feet wide, which opens the ore at a depth of 400 feet greater than the othor workings of the property, the next working work-ing above being on the 1200 level. The management had been expecting to cut ore on the IC0O level for some time. Since tho orti was uncovered, It has been drifted on for a distance of about twenty feet and continues to run about tho tame both In amount nnd values. What la indicative of another ore shoot of Importance has been cut In the lower level of the Hypotheek, where tho management man-agement Is now drifting preparatory to Hlnking and raising to the surface. HInco the recent stockholders' meeting. Iho ore was- encountered in the . in- :icnt tunnel, 'which Ih In about .1300 fet. It Is copper ore and the vein Is about six feet In width. Tho ore Is chalcopyrite and is said to run about 530 to the ton. It is the Intention of the management to start sinking operations at once to develop the strike, and the owners ore optlmlntla in tho predictions for the future of the property. Bunker Installs Pump. The foundation for the omergencv pump to bo Installed by the Bunker fcfilf and Sullivan Is now being laid, and the big pump will be in oporation before Christ-nave Christ-nave to bo continued cannot be more than estimated at present as the dip of tho vein on the V group has not been determined, but it wilj have to bo run about 400 feet farther to get under the outcrop on the V. It would not bo unexpected un-expected should tho oro bo encountered in February, although Ross would mako no guess as to tho approximate time it would require to complete tho tunnel. Mullen District. The Mullen district of the Coour d'Alenos Is patiently awaiting the development devel-opment of tho new National copper property prop-erty and the successful operation of Its new copper milling plant, just east of town. The success of this enterprise will molcc of Mullen tho largest copper producing pro-ducing section of not only the Coeur d'AIenea. but the largest in tho state of Idaho. With tho success of this mine, tho entlro copper belt from the Idaho-Montana Idaho-Montana summit to Burko will become valuable territory as a district of great merlL The district mentioned takos In the Silver Cablo mine, tho Lewis and Clark, Little Idaho, North Fork, East Snowstorm. Snowshoe. Lucky Calumet, Missoula Copper, Independence, National, Copper King and Imperial, all of which are located on a joint coppor and lead-silver lead-silver belt. The Missoula Copper, Independence, Inde-pendence, National and Coppor King are closely related, adjoining each other on side and end lines, and all four have opened copper ore bodies of more or less extent, and the succeB3 of the National will mean greater development in the others. Snowstorm Doing Well. The Snowstorm company at Larson is now down 400 feet with the wince from tho No, 4 tunnel level, and hae started the work of orosscuttlng for the vein on that level. The new level is considerably lower than tho level of the river at Lax-son, Lax-son, and It is expected that oome Important Im-portant clmnges will be noted In the vein when encountered. The deep development of the Snowstorm Is being watched with considerable Interest, as it will have more or less effect on tho future of the Mullen copper belt. If tho oro bodies arc found to continue to depth, such as will be attained by tho shaft, it will mean a great revival In both the prices on the stock markets and In the demand for property along the hell. There Is a huge copper and Icad-sllvcr Icad-sllvcr territory undeveloped north and east of Mullen and Its early and rapid exploitation will depend largely on the success made at the Snowstorm and National Na-tional mines. |
