They have lalen every high school team they have mt and have suffered but one defeat, .mil that at the hands of tho unbeatable' "ir" freshmen. The Panthers can now claim the undls-j:tvd undls-j:tvd championship of tho northwest. On November 15 the Panthers met the iracli Boise eleven and defeated them. The score was 0 to 2, This victory 'robably was tho most Important of the reason for the locals. Last Thursday the Lincoln high school of Portland was defeated by the Boise team, and as both elevens have claimed tho title it is clearly to be seen that Salt. Lake has a Just right to the championship. cham-pionship. The Panthers met the Ogden team on October IS. tho first scheduled game for the west elders, and won by the score of 13 to 2. Tho other wins for the locals were from Jordan, Granlto and a seoond game with Ogden. The game which the Panthers wanted most to win was that against the freshmen. fresh-men. In this game the high school was fighting against former high school players play-ers and the rivalry was very keen. Not until four star high school players were laid away wero the freshmen able to win. This game would havo resulted In a tie had the Panthers not been laid out. In fact, the high school team was outplaying out-playing the freshmen at many periods of the game. Coach Lon Romney at Ogden was the victim of much hard luck. At the beginning be-ginning of the season P.uby and Jones, two Btars, woro compelled to quit the team owing to broken collar bones. Later Ruby re-enterod the game. He started tho game against tho Granite team and received another broken collar bono. With the majority of players back next year he should have a ohamplonhip eleven. Tho Granite team has had a good season. sea-son. They have won every game ex-cept ex-cept those against tho Panthers and the freshmen teams. Under the able leadership leader-ship of George Hamilton the team has played some great ball. Last Thursday's Thurs-day's victory over the Ogden team was better than Salt Lake's Bhowlng against the Junction olty. Granite will lose seven men next year, Jordan high school is rapidly Improving Improv-ing and in a few years should prove a factor In the championship. The days are past when Jordan was considered only good enough for practice bAttlcs. They have given all trie teamB hard struggles and almost broke Salt Lake high school's string of victories when tho Panthers met them early In the season. Robs Vincent, fullback for Jordan.
