Show JOY RIDERS QUIT CAR WHEN CAUGHT Joy riders were caught in the act liYl-day liYl-day night when thoy attempted to make away with an automobile belonging to A. D. St. Clair, and what looked like an evening's pleasure at tho expense of Mr. St. Clair was suddenly cut short. Edward Burns of the Commercial Guard and Safety company was patrolling tho east bench when he noticed three young boys driving a car at First avenue and M streot, which thoy wero apparently unable to control. Mr. Burns called to them to stop, which tho boys did, Jumping Jump-ing out of tho car ana disappearing In the darkness. Mr. St. Clair was calling on friends In the neighborhood about a i block away from where the car was abandoned. Wlien he Was ready to go home he was surprised to Unci the rar oii another streot, a block away from whero ho had left It Tn the meantime P.. De .7onge, president presi-dent iof the Commercial Guard and Safo-tv Safo-tv company, was trying to find Mr. St. Clair by the numbor on his car, and called for him at his homo on Ninth JEast street. Falling to find him. ho started back to take chargo of the car and passod Mr. St. Clair coming home. Mr. De Jongo thought tho ear had been stolen again Hnd gave chase. Ho overtook over-took Mr. St. Clair at hlo home and explanations ex-planations followed. |
