Slocum, tho former national champion; T. R. Pell, former national Indoor champion; A. H. Man, Jr., Now England champion of Yale, and M. L. I. Galvao, tho German. All won In straight sets. Tho chief victories were 'those of Man, who beat R. H. Palmor at 6-1. 6-2; and Galvao, who beat Allen Tobey at S-4 and 6-4: "William M. Johnston of California has only played as Tor as tho fourth round. In coining through, tho lS-year-old wondor easily beat H. C. Martin. Crescent A. C, title holder, at 6-1, 6-2. S. H. Voshell recorded an upset by beating beat-ing W. M. Hall, Just from .the Clay Court championship at Omaha, by 0-6. 6-3. 7-5. W. L. Pate beat Philip Roberts Rob-erts at 4-6. 8-6, 6-0. Among tho other winners were G. F. Touchard, R. Loroy. F. C. Inman, C. F. Watson, Jr., and F. C. Baggs. |
