Show FOLLAND IS IN FAVOR' OF SOMENEW METHODS He Proposes to' Put Janitors to Test as 4o Their Knowledge. i For-the first time In the history of the iclty schools, a meeting of tho Janitors of tho various school buildings was held Saturday afternoon, at which Superintendent Superin-tendent of Buildings Folland gave a very instructive address on tho method of firing the heating plants In the buildings so qs to sccuro tho best results possible. Tho meeting was nttendod by. thlrty-nlno thlrty-nlno Janitors, and if proved to be Interesting Inter-esting and beneficial to :all. A suggestion was also made by Mr. Folland that, during dur-ing school hours, all Janitors, should appear ap-pear In a uniform, to be selected later on. This matter will be brought, to the nttentlon of, the board of education, nnd a recommendation made that the plan be adopted. At the close of tho present school year It is tho Intention of tho superintendent of buildings to require all Janitors to take, an examination as to their knowledge of engineering. , Thoso who 'fall to pas9 this examination will not be reappointed. It Js believed that .this plan' will Insure the selection of men who are notk qnly qunlifiod as-Janitors, but who havo tho requisite knowledge of engineering so that they will know how td operate tho heating plants .of tho schools to the very best advantage.
