Show BLAST FURNACE OPERATIONS BEING STEADILY CURTAILED NEW YORK. Nov. 27. Operations of the blast furnaces and finishing mills of the steel corporation are being steadily stead-ily reduced. Indicating that new contracts being placed for steM products aro still falling behind current shipments. Although Al-though the railroads have placed a. few more rail orders, aggregating about 1.15.-000 1.15.-000 tons, thus- fur in November contracts for other railroad equipment have been light. No other largo rail orders are expected this month, but It is hoped that of the tOO.OOO tons now pending a fair proportion propor-tion will be placed --in December. JLasl week rail orders came to tho surface aggregating JC.000 tons, including includ-ing the Iicknwanna and Lehigh .Vallov orders, amounting to l.l.SQO tons. Structural contracts for buildings and bridges were again small, specifications aggregating only 10,000 tons. November fabricated steel orders to date have been less titan ItO.OOO tons. Contracts for pig iron last we): aggregated about iiU.000 tons in' -sill districts, half of which was placed in the eastern territory. |
