Show GOTCH RETAINS WORLD'S MAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEATTLE. July 1. Frank Gotch. of Humboldt. Ia., maintained his right to tho world's championship tonight when "he outclassed Dr. B. T. Roller of Seattle, winning two consecutive falls In fifteen minutes and twenty-five seconds, nnd twenty-five minutes and fifty-four seconds, sec-onds, respectively. Tho men entered the ring weighing close to 200 pounds each. Roller may have been a pound or two heavier. Gotch worked his notorious toe-hold six times In succession Jn the first hnut. Roller broko away each time, but It wore on him and finally Gotch downed him with a crotch and half-nelson. Roller did bettor work In tho second bout, but Gotch went from hold to hold with startling rapidity. Roller's best work In this round was to break a half-nelson half-nelson and crotch after seemingly lost. Ho was finally picked up and dumped to his shouldero from the same hold. |
