Show !) I News of Mt, Pleasant. Special to The Tribune. MOUNT PLEASANT, July 1. The Commercial club of thiB city had its animal an-imal sporting day yesterday afternoon. Tho stores all closed at 2 p. m., and from that time until evening everybody had i good time. There wero three games of baseball played during tho afternoon. The first game was played between Spring City and Mount Pleasant, resulting re-sulting in a victory for tho boys of this city. The next game was a hummer, and was played by the merchants and business men versus the professional lucn lawyers, doctors and school teach-rs. teach-rs. The game was hotly contested, and resulted In the professionals winning out. with a score of 1 to G. Tho third gamo &s played by a team selected from company D, N. G. U., and tho Commercial Commer-cial club team. The boys of the latter warn won out. The sports of the afternoon after-noon wero free for overybody, and a rge crowd turned out to see tin games. A fine dance at the opera house in tho evening closed the day s proceedings. M. Nlclson returned this week from neagaut Grove, where ho went to attend at-tend the funeral of his uncle. |
