Show LORENZO DOW HARVEY HEAD OF THE EDUCATORS OI,EVEf,AND, July 1. Lorenzo Dow Harvey. Ph. D., superintendent of the schools and the superintendent of tho Stout Training school of Menomlnle, Wis-, was elected president of tho National Na-tional Educational association at a spa-da! spa-da! session today. Tho convention merely mere-ly ratified the choice of the nominating committee. Among the twelve vice-presidents elected elect-ed were A. IT. McClure, Arizona, who was chosen third vice-president; fifth. Joseph Rosier. West Virginia; A. II. Chamberlain of Pasadena, Cat., was re-elected treasuror. treas-uror. Members of the board of directors, one from each state, also wero elected. Resolutions giving an expression of tho association upon various educational matters, mat-ters, which wore prepared by the committee commit-tee on resolutions, were adopted by tin; association today. An effort was nuule at tho business session ses-sion to have the association Indorse simplified sim-plified spelling. A resolution to this effect was lost by a closo vote. Efforts to review re-view the resolution were blocked by a motion mo-tion to adjourn. Elmer Ellsworth Brown, tho United States commissioner of education, addressed ad-dressed the council on "Possible Co-oper-ation Between the Educational Associations Associa-tions of the Different Countries." |
