Fourteen Klrls of 'the Phillips Church i Girls' club of Salt Lake City are spending two weeks In BIb Cottonwood canyon on a pleasure jaunt. They expect to remain away until the latter part of July. Miss Ruby White, who has bten spending spend-ing the past two weeks at Provo vlslt-lnr vlslt-lnr with relatives returned tho latter part of tho week. Mrs. J. W. lawson and little dnushte i'c now at Eureka visiting with Mrs. Lawson's daughter, Mrs. Loroy Bird. Big Cottonwood, with Its several re-. re-. sorts, Is proving to be the center of attraction at-traction these days, Many of Murray's society people are commencing: to leave for tho hill In hopes of gaining some recreation and pleasure during tho remainder re-mainder of the hot month. Brighton, the pretty little resort at tho head of the canyon, is commencing to hold its own, the cottages are rapidly filling up with pleasure seekers, and this season bids fair to bo a record-breaker- A party composed of Miss Jean Winder, Carma Jones, Mori Miller, Theresea Cahoon, Lcda Iverson, Fred Jensen, Harry A. Powell, Hay Cahoon. Bruce Frese and Leo Winder, Win-der, chaperoned by Mrs. Nettle Turpln, spent three days of the past week at Mill D.. returning homo Sunday evening. David Boam and party spent Saturday In the mountains, devoting their time between be-tween Brighton and Mill D. J. Gardener nnd party went up Saturday morning:, going go-ing &B far as Brlgton and returning at moonlight. Joseph Stratton, formerly of this place, hut now of Idaho, was In Murray the latter part of tho week looking up old acquaintances. Tho Sunday schools of Granite stake joined In tho annual celebration which was held at Wandamere Friday. Mrs. Patrick Frlel left Tuesday for southern Utah, where she will reside In the future. ICarron Bennion, the 5'oung soloist of Taylorsvllle, has returned after a three weeks' sojourn In Idaho attending to business interests of his father. Miss Rella Gordon and Paul Hallstono of Logan, both popular 'young people, wore Joined In tho holy bonds of wedlock this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. Watson arc home after having spent the past wock at Provo with relatives. Ernest Richards is here from Idaho, where he ha3 been for the past few ! months. J. Green Is expoctod home from California Cali-fornia tho coming month, after an absence ab-sence of some time. Miss Mary Smith- and Walter Smith were united In marriage this week. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will make Murray their home. Ernest Sharron, a well-known young druggist, left Monday for Bountiful, where he expects to remain for the ncNt few i months, Mrs. Walker and her mother, Mrs. Footc .entertained at a large luncheon at "rdlowild," a little east of Murray, Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. |
