Show ATLANTIC MONTHLY COMPANY. In accordance with a former announcement, an-nouncement, the Atlantic Monthly was tTuly 1st transferred by Houghton Mifflin Mif-flin company,, which has published it for the pasi thirty-five years, to a new corporation, to be known as tho Atlantic Atlan-tic Monthly compan3. the former owners own-ers still retaining an important interest in the enterprise. The following officers have been chosen to represent the new company, which has been incorporated under tho laws of Massachusetts: President, Ellery Sedgwick of Now York, for many years connected with important interests in New York both in the magazine and bok-publishing fields. Vice-president, Waldo Emerson Forbes of Milton, Mass. Treasurer, MacGregor .Tonkins of Boston, for nearly twenty years connected con-nected with the Houghton Mifflin company, com-pany, and for fifteen years the business manager of the Atlantic Monthly. Edward H. Warren of Boston is counsel for tho new corporation. The original announcement that tho Atlantic was to change ownership became be-came the subject of so many interested inquiries from friends of tho magazine that the new company wishes to state its policy clearly at the ousot. The fact that Mr. Bliss Perry will continue as editor is alone sufficient guaranty that tho Atlantic Monthly will not depart de-part from its traditions as a magazine of distinctive form and character, and that as far as possible it will steadily broaden its scope and purpose. It is believed be-lieved that the magnzine must profit, by independent organization, as 'its interests inter-ests will enlist tho entiro time and energy ener-gy of its present 'owners, while it continues con-tinues to enjoy the support and co-operation of tho Houghton Mifflin company. com-pany.
