McMahon at 217 East Brigham street, tho night of February 19. made the startling request at his preliminary hearing in Judge Dichl's court Monday morning that Thomas Vance, alleged wife murderer awaiting trial, in the county jail, be brought from the jail to testify in his behalf. The request was made after the State had introduced intro-duced ittf evidence. Vnncc was brought forth, but his testimony merely related to a trivial conversation thnt took place between him and Green at the county jail and was unimportant. Policeman C. G. Riley, the arresting officer, testified that ho caught. Green at work on ono of tho screens at the MeMahon residence, presumably trvinjr to unfaston it.
