Show SHEEPMEN Mil Ifl GETTOGETHER fIVo Fruitless Meetings Held Wednesday at the Commercial Com-mercial Club. SMALL GRAZERS REJECT REPORT OF COMMITTEE Both Sides to the Controversy iov Have Organizations of .Their Own. Tho fight which began some days ago between the big sheopowners and the small grazers with tho incorporation incorpora-tion of the Uinta Forest Grazers' com-pauj com-pauj and culminated Tuesday in an almost open breach between the two factions, on account of what, tho small grazers call the high-handed proceedings proceed-ings of the big man in electing officers offi-cers at the meeting which was held at the Cullen hotel Tuesday against the protests of the small man, was continued con-tinued Wednesday, and although two meetings were h'eld at tho Commercial Commer-cial club and a committee was appointed ap-pointed to arrauge a basis of representation repre-sentation of both parties on the board of directors of the company which should he satisfactory to both the contending con-tending elements, no ngreement was reached, and Wcdncsdaj"- afternoon the two factions were as far apart, as at any time- preceding the conf rovorsy. The owners of the large Hocks contend con-tend that the basis of representation should be the number of sheep. Hence the seventeen men who formed the corporation cor-poration feel that as they control the larger number of sheep represented on the Uinta reserve they are justified in being represented by the larger number num-ber of directors. The small grazers think that they are being badly used in this and refuse to have anything to do with the new corporation. Committee Is Named. ! At the meeting held at the Com-; Com-; mercial club Wednesday at 9:30 o'clock ; a committee was appointed, consisting j of George Austin. Enos Benyon and Albert Smith, for tho large owners, and J. R. Allen. J. W. Rollins and J. R. Duke, for the small gra.eirt. This committee held a meeting at 10:30 o'clock, after the adjournment of the I general meeting, and endeavored to arrange ar-range a basis of representation which should be agreeable to all. After a discussion which' lasted, xully 'aiv liour it was decided that seven representatives representa-tives should be allowed to the large grazers and eight directors to the small i sheepmen. The second meeting for the da' was held at 2 o'clock, at which about 75 grazers were present in the main room of tho Commercial club. Tho report of the committee was then submitted to the members and was immediately rejected by an overwhelming votf the small herders voting against the report. re-port. The small men agreed to come into the corporation if they were allowed al-lowed a representation o ton of the fifteen directors, but this was refused by the large herders. The meeting adjourned after about half an hour's he-nted discussion. As the matter stands at present the large sheep owners have what was intended to bc the official organization of graze is. with some 350 of the smaller herders left out. The small men already have a semi-official organization or-ganization . of their own and are determined de-termined io havenothing to do with any other in which their own interests inter-ests are not properly considered. |
