Brandt has just completed an Important Investigation Investiga-tion into the matter of whelhor or not It Is possible for dogs to be affected by diphtheria and whether the said disease dis-ease may be communicated through their mouths to persons Experiments made, by Mr. Brandt prove boyond n reasonable reason-able doubt that the disease may be no communicated, and his report on the investigation in-vestigation aroused mqch interest anions members of the Boise Medical society at a nv.otlng just held. The experiments are the first of the kind ever made Iu the West, and no doubt the results will be very valuable to the medical profession generally. Tlio. investigation in-vestigation and experiments were the results re-sults of a suspicion that diphtheria had been communicated from one child to another an-other In a Boise family through the mouth of a pet dog, which was found to have tlio disease. Tho experiment was brought about by the Innoculatlon of two guinea pigs with the bacilli from the throat of the dog, which was killed because of the strong evidence that It was affected with diphtheria. |
