Show DEPORT OH RAWHIDE m FROM ADVERSE A Weil-Known Mining Man Thinks New Camp Will Make Good. To Salt Lake associates J. G. Flynn, formerly superintendent of the Mohawk and Combiuatiou mines of Goldfleld, Nov,, and now manager of the Balloon Hill Mining company of Itawhido, has the following interesting report to make regarding the Rawhide district in general, gen-eral, lie says: "I have spent the Inst three days in making a more thorough a.ud complotc examination of Balloon Hill, and an' doubts entertained of its containing millions of the precious metal have been dispelled. "Squat ou the hill are the mining locations knowu as the Balloon, Balloon Fraction, Gray Eagle Fraction, Mascot No. 1, Diabase and March Rose. Tho Gray Bagle Fraction is as yet unincorporated. unincor-porated. So is the Mascot mine No. 1. The Balloou claim, tlm Balloon Fraction, tho Diabase and the March Hose are the property of tho Rawhide Queen Mines company. The formation is porphyry and rhyolito. The rh3'ylitc is a large, intrusivo dj'ke about 300 feet wide, running run-ning parallel with tho hill. The contact with the porphyry on tho west side is being prospoctcu by miue lenses. Among tho moat active at present, are the Wor-den. Wor-den. Kcarns No. 2, Kcarns No. I, Rey-noIds-Ogilvic, St. Jva and Nat C. Goodwin. Good-win. All these leases have remarkable showings for the amount of work doue. "The most remarkable and, in fact, one of the greatest prospects T have ever scon is in the Kcarns No. 2. On this lense there is a shaft down sixiy-fivo sixiy-fivo feet, with twenty-two feet of crosscut cross-cut at tho bottom toward the hanging wall. There are vnlues from the surface sur-face to the bottom of tho shaft, but tho richest ore and best showing iB in tho crosscut. The first nino feet of this is in oro running from $100 to $500 per ton. The rest of the crosscut is in ore of a good milling grade of from $10 to $20, and the hanging wall is not yet reached. The mineralized part of this vein is a secondary silicifieation of porphyry, and is very soft, that is, the silicifieation has not been complete. Within this ledge, and running parallel with it, are talc seanvs. Tho mineralization mineraliza-tion of thi6 is what might be termed "banded," that is, there are bands of very rich ore alternating with the leaner or poorer grade of corresponding width. These talc seams separate the enriched zones from the leaner ones, nnd perhaps form the hanging wall of the channels of tho gold-bearing solution. "I can sec no reason, geologically or otherwise, for this mineralization uot to extend to great depth, and along the entire length of this contnet. I feel confident that developments in the next ninety days will open up mines that will rival" any in the State, and T predict that you may look for sensational developments de-velopments in the near future.
