The final mntch of the national racquet doubles championship tournament, which was decided de-cided today at the New York Racquet and Tennis club Jn thu presence of a bis gathering of Boston, Philadelphia and local club members, resulted In a victory for Boston over New York. . Fearing and Scott the "Candy." The competing pairs were George R. Fearing and Hugh N. Scott of Boston, and Ju. W'aterbury and Charles E. Sands ?u w Yor"k. Fearing and Scott won tn championship doubles last year. The match wns the longest and most interesting in-teresting contest of the tournament, as the pairs won alternately until the end of the fourth. Then tho home players won the fifth and the visitors tied them m the sixth. Tho final set was won by a score of 15 to 0. Next week the championship single court tennis tournament will be decided on the New York club's courts. |
