Show LEAVES GOOD 11 TO FREEZE AND STARVE Nebraska Youth Finds Lifer's Battle Filled With Awful Suffering. GRAND ISLAND, Neb., March 30. Nearly frozen to death nnd half starved, Patrick Kearney of Wood River was' found wandering on the plains west of Cheyenne. Wyo. For ninety-six hours he had tasted no food with the exception of a small can ot salmon. For four days he faced the worst blizzard of tho winter. When discovered dis-covered he was nearly dead and was taken to a Cheyenile hospital. He will lose both hands and both feet. Too Proud to Beg. "Kearney started to walk from Cheyenne Chey-enne to Laramie, having' run out of money and being too proud to make his condition known He became, lost ln the blizzard and groped about In the blinding snowstorm from Wednesday till Saturday, suffering- Intense agony from the cold and the pangs of hunger. He told the hospital authorities that several times It seemed as If he must sink down In the snow and perish, but he managed to survive the terrible ordeal or-deal through sheer force of will.
