Chambers, of Salt Lake, in regard to the collection of minerals from Utah lor the Vienna exhibition, enc!o;iD the necessary rules, regulations regula-tions and blanks, for properly marking and shipping specimens. We give a portion of Mr. Kustel's letter. The permit of space grants 20 feet by 4 for "specimens of Utah oros and minerals." miner-als." New York, Jan. 29, 1S73. Dear Sir : Enclosed I send you the papers required (or the marking and shipping of goode for the Vienna exposition, ino extraot 01 tjeneral Regulations will give you an idea how to manago the thing. There are only two mineral collections betides yours, one from a private source from Nevada, Ne-vada, and one from Montana. I had to take the papers in my name bccauo it could not be fixed differently, but the notice over the collection will be Ores and Minerals from Utah Territory, Terri-tory, exclusively. The shipping expense, they say to me, will bo very small. Tho railroad companies reduce tho charges to liliy per cent., and eotno let it pas Irce. So you have to settle that part with the company in Ugden. They pay if th" goods arc not here before the 1st of February it is not certain whether the steamers- from the Navy yard will sail another timo ; but 1 suppose it is only slid becau-o they are afraid things may crowd too much on them in March. Vours respectfully, G. Kustel. We hopo tho gentlemen who have been selected to sccuro specimens will act with energy in tho maltcr, that they may be forwarded to Mr. Kustcl immediately. |
