Show The Adelaide Mine. Wo saw some fine specimens yesterday in Messrs. Woodhull's office from this mine, Little Cottonwood, brought down on Thursday night by Mr. Raid of "Reid's" rich oxides and carbonates, carbon-ates, with tine galena specimens. Mr. Reid got a largo piece of solid galena, weighing a hundred and eighty pounds, but was unable to bring it to town. Tho tunnel is in twenty-two feet, on a vein live feet wide and of wonderful richness. rich-ness. Tin? mine was discovered by Mr. Frank Dewey somewhat singularly, and almost in tho same way as the famous Potosi mines of Pom. The ground had been prospected over again and again without results, when one day Mr. Dewey was going up the steep mountain side whore tho tunnel is now - being run, when ho pulled at some brush in his way, which came out by the roots. The appearance of the earth induced him to uc bis pick, and he speedily rolled out a twenty pound boulder of ore. The location was made, aud the discovery is likely to prove ona of the richest in the country. |
