WOMAN TO HANG Sentenced for Murder of Her Husband Hus-band in Canada II Cayoga Ont Nov 10Mrs Adele Sternman was tonight found guilty of I the murder of her husband and was sentenced t be hanged in the courtyard court-yard of the jai in this town on Jan 20 1S9S When the jury came into court and announced their verdict the judre ordered the prisoner to stai1 and asked her if she had anything to say why sentence should not be passed upon her The woman whose face was deathly pale and whose voice trembled with emotion turned toward the jury box and exclaimed I declare before God I am innocent of this crime The judge then passed sentence of death upon her Mrs Sternamans husband died of arsenical poisoning in August 1896 His life was insured for 2000 Ezra Chipman a former husband of the woman diet with similar symptoms I sym-ptoms though it is known that he was poisoned
