| Show LOWER UAlOrOTH GOLD Experimental Tests Being Made at the CeutennialEureka The Tintic Miner in its weekly mining min-ing review says Peyton and Snyder have purchased 5000 tons of low grade ore of the Mammoth Mam-moth Mining company A custom mill fills a long felt want in the district and should be patronized liberally On account of the accident at the Eureka Eu-reka Hill mill the mine was shut down Tuesday the bins being full Work e was resumed at the mill Tuesday morning I y morn-ing and the mine opened up as usual I Tuesday night A large body of gold ore was struck in the shaft of the Lower Mammoth the first of the week I is said to be the largest strike yet made in that property prop-erty and insures a revenue to the own er5 for i long time to come erJ t W J Lawrence returned to Salt Lake Sunday after spending ten days at the North Star He reports a nice ore body in that property from which a shipment ship-ment was made this week Mr Lawrence Law-rence is in charge of the work on the IsabeU Victoria better known as the Gumdrop mention of which was made in the Miner in a previous issue B F Flelner left here last Friday on his way from Provo to Death canyon where he will continue the supervision ofwork on the Blaine lode Mr Flei nci states that two men are steadily at work and that a good sized shipment of high grade lead ore will be made In the next few days He also says that hereafter the Blaine will be a steady producer plessrs McClellan and Sankey have taken a lease on the Butcher Boy at Diamond This property was located In August 1871 and like most of the fl < I I mines in the south end of the district produced considerable high grade ore I near the surface but ha not been worked much for several years One shipment several years ago averaged 1700 ounces of silver to the ton I j the development of other properties in that region can be taken as an indication indica-tion the Butcher Boy will with depth disclose even richer values Mr George H Robinson the general manager of the SiouxAjax properties was in Robinson Wednesday and I Thursday From him we learn that work will be resumed on the Sioux I Ajax tunnel which is now in 3000 feet Mr Robinson says that Tintic district I is progressing more rapidly than any I mining district he has visited with the possible exception of Butte and Cripple Creek and that there is not a better I mining region anywhere If Tintic was in Colorado it would have a boom As J it is the growth is steady and healthy I and every year gives birth to new bonanzas I James Brown has about perfected a method for the treatment of low grade ores that promises to revolutionize ore reduction in the near future At the CentennialEureka mine a fourton tank is being erected to thoroughly test the process and if successful the new year will witness the installation of a plant on a large scale and three eight I hour shifts will again make things hum upon the hill Wo are unable to learn much of the process but are reliably informed that two hours is all the time consumed and that practically all of the gold copper and lead and 85 percent per-cent of the silver are saved Copper has always been a detriment in treating treat-ing ores by the cyanide process and the time required is much greater than by Mr Brownsprocess I the present test is successful it means renewed I activity all over Tintic district as neither the installation nor the operation I opera-tion of the plant is expensive |
