| Show AT MOUNT PLEASANT Farmers Patiently Awaiting the Coming of Spring So Far Little or No Work Has Been Done by the Grangers this YearGeneral News Notes Miss KnIghton of Salina is a guest of Bishop Farnsworth Mr Knight of Montana is visiting relatives rela-tives in Mr Pleasant Mr Lidoll of King Mercantile company Ogden is visiting the mercantile fraternity frater-nity Charles Anderson of the Dinwoodey Furniture Co passed through to Manti yesterday A large number are taking advantage of the cheap rates and have gone to the capital capi-tal to attend the semiannual conference Mayor Carters family some of whom have been down with diphtheria are now out of danger and recovering from the dread disease C W Sorenson one of our prominent pedagogues is now suffering from a severe attack of nervous prostration accompanied With bronchitis The store known as tho Branch Coop has been closed Tip and the stook of merchandise mer-chandise on hand has been transferred to the parent store on Main street A meeting will be held next Monday evening for the purpose of organizing an athletic club Some of our young athletes are enthusiastic over the move and erelong ere-long we may hear of some local champion coming to the front as a pugilist I Our farmers are paitiontly waiting for spring to open so that they may begin their spring work So far not a plow has been thrust into the sod and no grain has yet been sown The snow storms last week have again made more mud to wade through David Candland of Chester is now pay ing his respects to the merchants of the county by testing the accuracy of their scales measures etc appertaining to their business Mr Candland was once one of our favored residents of Mount Pleasant ana when business or pleasure calls him here he invariably finds himself among a host of warm friends who would gladly welcome him back to his old home He is one of those genial affable gentlemen whom t is a pleasure to meet and converse with From a private letter we learn that Dr S H Allen one of our intelligent young men will return irom Baltimore about the middle of April Dr Allen graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons with high honors taking the third college prize for general proficiency about a year ago He was given the entire charge of the Maternity hospital for one year after graduation and has been tendered another position if he would consent to remain He thinks it best however to return to his mountain home and we feel confident that his friends will be pleased to see him return re-turn and again settle down in his old home MT PLEASANT April 18GL |
