Show Handcart Days Preparing Many Activities South Davis County residents are urged to plan ahead for the annual Bountiful Handcart Days celebration July 23-26. Theme of the four-days of festivities is "Bountiful: Land of Plenty." ACTIVITIES will begin on Thursday. July 23, with the traditional parade down Bountiful's Main Street, beginning at 1200 South and traveling north to Bountiful Junior High School at 100 West and 400 North. Former City Manager Grant P. Petersen will be grand marshal of the parade which will feature scores of entries from throughout through-out the Intermountain area. Parade time is 6:30 o.m. FOLLOWING the parade, there will be a "bands in review" presentation south of the National Guard Armory. Inside the armory will be displays of paintings, photography, photo-graphy, sculpture and handicraft. Booths will be open at City Park. There will be a full day of activities on Friday. July 24. beginning with a chuck wagon breakfast from 6'a.m. until 10 a.m. at the City Park Bowery. Cost of the breakfast break-fast is $1.50 for adults and $1 for children under 1 2 years of age. HANDCART DAYS 10-kilometer run will begin at 7 a.m. with prizes for all age group winners. Advance registration for this run should be made at De Boers' Running Run-ning Store. 167 South Main, Bountiful. Mayor Elmer W. Barlow will be featured speaker at the annual flag raising ceremony scheduled for 7:15 a.m. at City Park. FREE SWIMMING will be offered by the Bountiful Recreation Department at the Outdoor Pool on July 24 from 9 a.m. until II a.m. Booths, concessions, games and events will be held at City Park from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Children's games and races will be staged at 10 a.m.. w ith prizes for all participants partici-pants under 12 years of age. Arts and crafts. exhibits will also be displayed at the Armory from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. SWIM competition will be held from 1 1 a.m. until noon at the Outdoor Pool. There is no charge but advanced registration is required by telephoning 292-0422. The Bountiful Recreation Center will also sponsor an ice show between I p.m. and 2 p.m. at the ice rink. Admission is free. Softball games and horseshoe pitching pitch-ing tournaments will be going on all afternoon. after-noon. "VARIETY SHOW "81" will conclude activities July 24 at 8 p.m. at the LDS Regional Re-gional Center (former Valley Music Hall). Admission is free. The second performance of "Variety Show '81" will be presented on Saturday. July 25. at the Regional Center, also at 8 p.m. ACTIVITIES WILL conclude on Sunday. Sun-day.
