Show I '"JM ' : . I I : i X' ' ' ' ' ' I r- n :; -: - L SKATE WITH OSMONDS One of Bountiful's outstanding out-standing teachers and performers per-formers has been chosen to appear on the Donny and Marie Osmond television series. DAWN Seesler, talented skater and dancer, has been selected to become a part of the Osmond series which will be filmed in Orem, beginning Nov. 1 following the dedication dedica-tion of their new television, sound and film studio. Last spring, the Osmond crew established auditions at the Bountiful Ice Rink hoping to find local talent who would fit into their ice portion of the weekly variety show. Dawn, who has been a skating soloist - for a national ice show and was on staff at the Bountiful rink was a part of those auditions. audi-tions. ONE OF the men who came with the Osmond staff was a former teacher of Dawn's in Los Angeles. He presently is choreographer for the weekly series. His name is Bob Paul and has also assisted with routines for Peggy Fleming and other artists during his Dawn Seesler of Bountiful, will skate in the Osmonds' show, beginning in November. career on ice. Dawn was born in St. Louise, Mo., but moved to Los Angeles shortly after her arrival here on earth. She is the daughter of Howard and Glendora Seesler who presently reside in Tucson. At the age of 11, Dawn became interested in ice skating. She has also been trained in dancing. At age 11, her coaches told her she was too old for competition, but her ability completely outshadowed their doubts in as much as her skating improved quickly as the years moved on. TRAINERS Murray Galbraith and Mabel Fairbanks Fair-banks encouraged her to audition for ice shows at age 15 so she could become known when openings were available. availa-ble. Dawn did not compete as a competitive skater, just as a show skater, and by the time she graduated from high school in Los Angeles, she had landed a principal skater position in the Ice Capades show. Her ability to adjust quickly to dance routines or variety and character portrayals made her an asset to that show, and is the very unique characteristic which enables her to become a part of the Osmond show. DAWN CAME to Bountiful after two seasons with Ice Capades. She had traveled the big city circuit with the show, and after appearing in Salt Lake City, found two of her long time friends managing the Bountiful Ice Rink. They offered her a job teaching at the rink, when she became tired of traveling. The offer was quickly accepted by Dawn who arrived at the rink in June of 1976. Since that time she has been using all her expertise and talent, teaching young people at the rink. In the meantime, she continues to create new routines and skates regularly at the local arena. It was this reporter's extreme pleasure to watch Dawn perform her current routine, which is poetry in motion, on ice. THIS VERY talented and unaffected young lady plans to continue teaching at the local rink as she commutes to Orem four days each week for rehearsals and filming. She has very special advise for those seeking a place in skating. "Don't be concerned about age. You never know where it will lead you and if only your fondest dreams of competing locally comes true, it is worth the effort." DAWN IS a novelty on ice. She can tap dance, jump, do quick dance routines, adjust to and compete in dance lines or solo perform. She will be included in the last 11 performances perfor-mances of the Osmonds this season. Sincere best wishes accompany her as she embarks em-barks on a new career in television, while living, working and jogging in Bountiful, rsp |
