I ' , ' - ' x " 1 BREAK GROUND Ground was broken on Saturday, Sa-turday, Sept. 10 for a much needed new LDS Chapel in the Val Verda Stake for the Fifth and Tenth Wards. Located at South Davis Blvd. about 2600 South. Construction is expected ex-pected to begin within the next two weeks, and be completed within a year. ABOUT 100 persons were in attendance at the Helping with recent ground breaking ceremonies for the new Val Verda 5th and 10th Ward meetinghouse, are, 1 to r, George Toland, building committee; Le R. Beauregard, contractor; Elvon Bay,, High Councilman; Bob Garff, Bishop of 10th Ward; Clark Jenkins, 5th Ward Bishopric; Terry Smoot, 5th Ward Bishop; Bryce Montgomery, High Councilman; Lee Barr, 10th Ward Bishopric. groundbreaking ceremonies. Speaking and turning the first spadefuls of dirt were Val Verda Stake President Milton Russon, his counselor Arfin T. Mecham, High Councilman Elvon Bay, construction superintendent Wayne Wheeler, Val Verdan "Beau" Beauregard whose Inter West Construction Company received the building contract, con-tract, building architect Mr. Todd, Bishop Robert Garff of the Tenth Ward and Fifth Ward Bishop Terry Smoot who delivered the keynote address. The property was formerly owned by Fos Lewis, and the Lewis Brothers got the contract con-tract for the necessary excavations, ex-cavations, ml |
