Show Funeral Services Held at Sigurd For A. Leo Elder Arthur Leo Elder, 49, retired army veteran, died Friday at the Veterans hospital, Salt Lake City, following a lingering illness. Mr. Elder was born April 17, 1902, in Washington county, Utah, a son of Walter and Mary Adams Elder. He received his education in Richfield schools and enlisted in the U. S. Army Aug. 28, 1920, at Fort Douglas. While in the service he was a member of the 38th Infantry In-fantry Band and traveled exten-j exten-j sively as a member of that unit. He married Susannah Lewis and was later divorced. In 1931 he married Hazel Gleave, with the marriage solemnized in the Manti LDS temple, May 9, 1933. She was killed in an automobile accident August 13, 1947. Mr. Elder was a member .of the LDS church. While a resident of Sigurd he was a member of the Siguard quartet and of the ward choir for a number of years. He also served as a ward teacher a number of years. Survivors include his mother, Mary Elder, Srpingville, two sons and a daughter Arthur Elder of Provo, Leo Elder, in the U. S. navy and Beverly Ellen Elder of Springville, Spring-ville, seven brothers and sisters Clifford Elder, McGill, Nev.; John C. Elder, and Mrs. Ellery (Eva) Kelsey, Springville; Mrs. Joseph (Frances) Anderson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Frank (Ila) Lee, Drag-erton; Drag-erton; Mrs. W. C. (Verda) Busse, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Wm. (Dycie) Upright, Spanish Fork. Also surviving sur-viving is one grandchild. Services were conducted Monday in the Sigurd ward chapel by Bishop Bis-hop Thad N. Nebeker. Burial was in Richfield city cemetery. Military Mili-tary rites at the graveside were given by Jensen Colby Post of the American Legion of Richfield. |
