Show Musettes Sponsor Preliminary Contest Friday Regional junior music festival contest, sponsored by the Springville Spring-ville Musettes, members of the Federated Music Clubs, will be held in the high school auditorium Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. and will include contestants up to 18 years of age. The contest is the first step in the national contest which is sponsored spon-sored every year. It is for both vocal and instrumental students. Those who receive superior ratings will be eligible to enter in the state contest April 7 and 8 in Salt Lake City. Winners will compete in national finals. Awards of scholarship schol-arship are then given to national winners. Judges will be from Salt Lake City, and Mrs. W. C. Van Etten, state chairman, will be present to deliver a talk on festival work prior to the contest. Following are listed the contestants: con-testants: Springville Vocals, Betty Hoover, June Wood, Howard Bear-dall; Bear-dall; string trio consisting of David Dav-id Dalton, Steven Clark, Alice Erickson, drum solo by Louise Ecker. Provo Vocals, Bonnie Oss, James Holafcid; Spanish Fork Girls trio consisting of Beverly Smith, Lynette Johnson and Vonda Skousen. Officials announced that next year the contest will be conducted on a larger scale and will include a student division. They extend a special invitation to music intruc-tors intruc-tors who would be interested in entering their students next year. |
