Show LEGISLATORS SEE PROVO Special Train Carries Ike House Members to tbe Asylum Friday. Members of the lower house of the Legislature, Leg-islature, their wives and friends to the number of about 150 went to Provo to inspect the State mental hospital Friday. The trip was made on a special train over the Short Line, leaving Salt Lake at 9:30 o'clock. At American Fork a party of about ten met the train and went on as guests of the Utah county delegation. The legislators were met at the station at Provo by the Mayor of the city, a brass band and carriages, and were taken to the asylum to inspiring music. All of the departments of the asylum were thrown open to the visitors and they were conducted through the Institution, and the needs explained to them by Superintendent Su-perintendent Hardy and hU assistants. The hospital is badly crowded at present and more room Is needed. An effort will be made to secure an appropriation large enough to provide for the erection of an additional building. Superintendent Hardy met with the legislators leg-islators In the afternoon and explained fully the plans for the year, and the improvements im-provements necessary. He was promised such aid as could be extended by the State. At noon all of the visitors were Invited into the dining-room, where a bountiful luncheon had been spread. The return trip will be made Friday evening, the train leaving Provo at 8:30 o'clock. |
