Show Monarch Pioneer Rites Held At Roosevelt Chapel Funeral services were conducted at 12:30 yesterday in the Roosevelt Roose-velt LDS stake chapel by Bishop James E. Hamblin of the Montwel ward for Benjamin Oliver Johnson, 85, who died Sunday at 12:30 a.m. in the Roosevelt LDS Hospital of causes incident to age. Mr. Johnson was born at Summit Sum-mit in Iron County, Utah, October 26, 1869, a son of Benjamin and Mary Elender Cheeny Johnson. He married Carrie Brown Feb. 25, 1892 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died Oct. 20, 1943. Mr. Johnson and his family came to the Basin in 1910 and settled on a homestead in the Monarch area, where - he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Montwel ward and held the office of an elder in the LDS church. He is survived by the following seven sons and daughters: Oliver David, Provo; Verl Rulon and Mrs. Marvin .(Ruby) Hamilton, Roosevelt; Roose-velt; Mrs. Loren (Thelma) Hallett, Bingham; Mrs. Charles (Arda) Hullinger, Hul-linger, Pleasant Grove; Leslie O'Dell, Anaconda, Mont.; Mrs. Max (Lexia) Roberts, Springville; one sister, 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Roosevelt cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. |
