Show Funeral Services ileld Tuesday For Roosevelt Pioneer Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Roosevelt LDS Staka Chapel for Mrs. Christina Elizabeth Eliza-beth Nilson Murray, 86, pioneer of the Uintah Basin, who died at her home here Friday at 2:17 p. m., of causes incident to age. Bishop R. V. Larson, of the Roosevelt Ward conducted the services. Speakers who eulogized the long and useful life of Mrs. Murray were Thomas Todd, Dan F. Mitchell and Jim Nielsen. A quartet sang two numbers, "Sometime We'll Understand," and "In the Garden;" Nola and Clara Wilkins sang, "Beyond The Sunset," and Mrs. Hollis Hullinger played the organ prelude. pre-lude. Prayer at the home was offered of-fered by Guy Murray, with Alex Sullivan giving the invocation and Heber T. Hall the bent-diction. bent-diction. The grave was dedicated dedicat-ed by President Hollis Hullinger Hullin-ger of the Roosevelt Stake. Burial was in the Roosevelt Cemetery, under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Roos evelt. Mrs. Murray was born Nov. 19, 1865, in Hinderstorp, Sweden, Swed-en, a daughter of John Erick and Maria Charlotta Johansson Nilson. She was married to Jeremiah Jere-miah Murray, Nov. 8, 1883, in Vernon, Tooele County. The marriage later was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She came to Utah with her parents when 11 years of age. They were converts to the LDS Church. The family settled in Vernon, where she lived until after her marriage. She and her husband moved to Jenson, Uintah Uin-tah County, where they lived a short time. They later moved to Sandy, where they lived until un-til 1905, when they moved to Roosevelt at the opening of Indian In-dian reservation lands to settlement. set-tlement. She was an active member of the LDS Church, having served as Sunday School teacher and Relief Society visiting teacher. Surviving are five sons, J. Guy Murray, Riverside, Cal.; Vern L. Murray, Salt Lake City; Ralph N. Murray, Murray; Douglas Murray, Helper, Carbon Car-bon County; and Clyde R. Murray, Mur-ray, Roosevelt; three daughters, Mrs. Elda Cloward and Mrs Delia McClellan, Taft, Cal and Mrs. Mildred Wilkins. St. George; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. |
