Series Group Con.ri.ep.ces Plans Resulting from one of the panel discussions during the Rural Education Conference was the appointment of a committee from the Uintah Basin to-investigate the possibility of securing secur-ing cultural programs for the people in this area. At a meeting Monday night . for all civic club and church representatives, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, committee member from Roosevelt, introduced the committee's intentions in organizing organ-izing the program, and as the discussion continued, it was decided de-cided by those in attendance to name the organization the "Union-Civic Arts Series." General chairman named for this community was Mrs. Schmiett, and vice-chairman chosen was L. F. Hutchings, Union High School principal. The executive committee will consist of all persons present Monday night, who are as follows: fol-lows: Hollis G. Hullinger, Floyd Peterson, Dr. R. V. Larson, Mrs. Lon Logan, Mrs. Lavere La-brum, La-brum, E. J. Nixon and Mrs. Cliff Memmott. It is the idea of the committee to bring to the people of this area some of the finest cultural programs available in the Unit1 ed States. It is hoped that at least six outstanding programs of this type will be offered during dur-ing the season, for which season sea-son tickets will be sold, entitling a person to attend all six performances. per-formances. The non - profitable project will be operated in conjunction with Vernal and Duchesne, making it possible fox all three cities and surrounding communities commun-ities to have the opportunity of hearing and seeing some of the finest talent available at a very minimum price. A clearing calendar cal-endar for scheduling events will be handled through the Roosevelt Roose-velt Standard. The following people in the various towns will be contacted in 'the near future to serve as a chairman in his vicinity to promote this cultural program: Ft. Duchesne, Mrs. Logan; My-ton, My-ton, Mrs. Howard Roberts; Ne- ola, Mrs.' Jack "Leavitt; Rand-lett, Rand-lett, ' Ralph Taylor; Ballard, Wendell Johnson; Tridell, Mrs. Forrest Goodrich; Bridgeland, Mrs. Shelby Lisonbee; Lapoint, Mrs. Golden Winn; Ioka, Mrs. Garrett . Stone; Arcadia. Mrs. Garn Gilbert;' Montwet,' Mrs. Ray Brown; and Whiterocfo, Mrs. Roy Adams. A meeting for all of the above mentioned people is being called for Monday, April 21, at 8 p. rri. at the Union High School. |
