Show I . JOSEPH A. ARNOLD I GUSHER Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in j the Moffatt ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day ' Saints, for Joseph A. Arnold, 83, who died at his home in Gusher March 25, at 9:15 p.m. of causes incident to age. Leslie Beardall, counselor in the bishopric, was in charge of the services. A native of Bear Lake, where he was born July 12, 1871, to Joseph S. and Elizabeth Smith Arnold, Ar-nold, he was married to Harriet Ainge in Jensen, Dec. 24, 1891. He has been a farmer in the Uintah Uin-tah Basin all his married life, until un-til an operation over a year ago forced his retirement He and his wife recently observed their 63rd wedding aniversary. After his marriage he and his family lived at Jensen 20 years, then moved to Bluebell, where they resided for several years, before be-fore coming to Gusher, where he resided until his death. Of the eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold, four pre-' pre-' ceder him in death. Harriet and twin daughters, Delpha and Delia, died in infancy, and Wilbur was grown and married when his death occurred. Funeral Service? Music at the funeral consisted ' of a ladies' chorus, composed of Elgia Perry, Geraldine Calder, Phyllis Glenn, Betty Coleman and Dorothy Bodily, who sang "Beyond "Be-yond the Sunset," and Sometime We'll Understand;" Gwen Bodily ; sang, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine," and a piano solo, "O, My Father," was played by Judy Arnold, a granddaughter. Speakers were Rex O. Curry, Bishop Ashael " Perry and Mr. Beardall. Prayer 1 at the home was by Mr. Beardall, : invocation by Paul Howard, bene-1 bene-1 diction by Harry Dean and Percy j Stewart dedicated the grave. Pallbearers were David, Joe, Roy, Loren and Arthur Arnold, and Gale Wilkins. In adition to his widow, he is survived by four sons, George A., William H. John K., of Gusher, and Manfred M. of Salem, Utah; 27 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren are listed as survivors surviv-ors along with three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Ainge, Mrs. Gertrude Hall and Mrs. Clara Jones, Vernal. Burial was in the Rosevelt Cemetery Cem-etery under the direction of Ol-Pta Ol-Pta Mortuary of Roosevelt. ARCHIE L. LARSEN ROOSEVELT Funeral services were held in the Roosevelt LDS stake chapel last Monday, March 28, at 12:30 p.m. for Archie L. Larsen, 59, who died March 25 in Vernal hospital after a stroke. I Rex O. Curry, counselor in the Fourth ward bishopric, conducted the services. Mr. Larsen was born July 2, 1895 in Mayfield, a son of C. C. and Minnie Anderson Larsen. He married Nola Andrean Whitlock Feb. 6, 1913 in Rosevelt. He moved mov-ed to the Basin with his parents when the reservation was opened for settlement in 1906, and ' was the first automobile dealer in Roosevelt, where he lived until moving to Salt Lake City several years ago. He was a member of the LDS church. He is survived by his widow and the following daughters: Mrs. George D. (Wanda) Adamson, Temple City, Calif.; Mrs. Harold (Florence) Birtcher, Holladay; Mrs. Elmer (Norma) Denver, Fort Duchesne; Du-chesne; Mrs. C. A. (Dona) Mc-Dowall, Mc-Dowall, Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Sam (Betty) Colabella, Vernal; Mrs. Lee (Beverly) Kunz and Miss Pat Larsen, Lar-sen, Denver; 11 grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters, Cyrus and Clair of Roosevelt; Mrs. Grace Mansfield, Portland, Ore.; Charles, Bountiful; Reuben, Cedar City; Mrs. Katheryn McCash, Albuquerque, Albuquer-que, New Mexico, and Mrs. Louise Fisher, Provo. , Burial was in the Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. |
