Show LAPOIDT Mable Jenkins Funeral Held For John E. Long Funeral services for John E. Long were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the ward chapel. The choir sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul," opening prayer was offered by Charley Taylor, Jr.; Roy Anderson, Ander-son, of Roosevelt, sang "In The Garden;" Dawn Huber and Cynthia Cyn-thia Taylor sang, Farther Along," accompanied by Rex Taylor on the guitar. The speakers were Bishop L. J. Walker and Hayden Foster, and the choir sang "Unanswered "Un-answered Yet;" closing prayer was by Roy Huber. The grave was dedicated by Olie Justice. The pallbearers were Dick and George Long, Elroy Davis, Ralph Long, Roy Springer and Don Davis. Mr. Long died at 11 a.m. Feb. 11 in the Roosevelt Hospital after a long illness. He was born May 9, 1888 in Greenhorn, Colorado, a son of John and Annie Agnes Cristwell Long. He never married. Survivors include the following brothers and sisters: Ralph Long, Logan; Annie Jackson, Roosevelt; Florence Garrick, Salt Lake City; Eva Logan, San Matio, California; Nora Wren, of California. Burial was in the Lapoint cemetery. ceme-tery. Relatives from outside towns attending at-tending the funeral services were: Ralph Long, Logan, Dick and George Long, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Davis, Rangely, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Elroy (Butch) Davis, Wellington; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Long, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Morrill, Mrs. Alta Hadden, Kate Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Don Burris, Myton; Mrs. Florence Garrick Gar-rick and daughter, Beverly, Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. John Winn, Provo; Mrs. O'Lena Davis, Mrs. Bill Arnold, Ballard; Mr. and Mrs. Don Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Porter Long, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Davis, Vernal; Mr. and Mrs. Gail Ander-ton, Ander-ton, Mrs. Verl Anderton, Mont-wel; Mont-wel; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Springer and son, Roy, Leeton; Mrs. Annie Jackson, Art Long, Roosevelt. All relatives and friends were: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Workman, Myton; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson, Ander-son, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Anderson, Ander-son, Mrs. Veda Eaton, Roosevelt. The five ladles, which also in-1 elude Lorna Flies, Bertha Harris and Gerry Simpson, will bowl in the Booster Division as the Yam-pa Yam-pa Valley team. The National meet will be held in April and May. In the Booster Division, the teams have an average of 700 or less. The average for the Craig group is 661. Mrs. Pearl Preece and husband owned a ranch in Lapoint before moving to Craig and going into the sheep business with his brothers. broth-ers. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Burgess attended the funeral services for Pvt. Paul Norman Oaks of Vernal last Thursday. Mrs. Nile Bigelow and son, of Vernal, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bigelow were last Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Long and family of Roosevelt. Charley Burton and Mrs. Ethel Taylor have been ill with the flu the past week. Rex Jenkins went to Craig, Colorado Col-orado last week to visit his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Preece and family, and a brother, Frank Jenkins, Jr. at Oak Creek, Colo. Mrs. Ruby Steel and small children, chil-dren, of Rangely, spent Tuesday night with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Workman of Myton, visited Mrs. Workman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins, Jen-kins, and attended the funeral of John E. Long, Monday. Rex Jenkins left Tuesday for Sterling, Colo., where he has employment em-ployment in the oil fields. He will visit his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Stubbs and son, Brent. Mrs.- Merl Horrocks took Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Horrocks back to Vernal, Tuesday. Mrs. Horrocks received medical care and is staying stay-ing with Mrs. Horrock's daugbhter, Mrs Alice White and family. Rodney Horrocks was transferred trans-ferred to the oil fields at Willow Creek. Rulon Rasmussen was called home from Blanding to be with his son, who has been confined to his home the past week with the flu. Floy Perry, of Crow Creek, is home from Kansas City, Missouri and is much improved in health. Mrs. Orpha Kump accompanied her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Angus, and family to Salt Lake City last Thursday. Miss Lynn Wilkins, of Roosevelt, Roose-velt, was a guest over the weekend week-end of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bigelow. Mrs. Thelma Winn and son, Boyd, returned home last Sunday from Salt Lake City. Her baby is somewhat improved. Mr. Winn left Monday for Fruita, Colorado where he has employment in the oil fields. Pvt. Keith Walker, of Fort Ord, California, is spending a 10 day furlough with his parents, Bishop and Mrs. L. J. Walker, and family. fam-ily. , |
