Show Federal War Wages Cause of Trouble WASHINGTON. May 1 Some of the recent industrial upheavals may be traced to the difference in wages paid in industries under government control during tho war, the railroad labor board was told today by E. H. Fitzgerald, president of the Brotherhood Brother-hood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, freight handlers oxpress and station employes. He was continuing his presentation pre-sentation of the demands of these men Xor increased wages. "When the government," he said, "established a rato of ?87.50 per month for several hundred thousand railroad employes and at tho same timo established rates in excess of $200 a month for ship yard workers, the railroad workers lost hope." oo |
