Show Berta B. Winter, 77, Parowan Native dies Berta Benson Winter, 77, of Parowan, died June 9 at , the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. She was born Aug. 30, 1900 in Parowan to George and Gwendolynn Mitchell Benson. She married Joseph Leland Winter in Pioche, Nev. in 1946. Berta had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and the Iron County Record. She was a tremendous piano player and a great entertainer. en-tertainer. She was an Honorary Lady Lion and a member of the LDS Church. Funeral services were held Monday, June 12 at 2 p. m. in the Parowan Third LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Reginald L. Hughes conducting. The family prayer was offered by Gilbert Mitchell with Itha Mortensen playing the prelude, postlude music and Bishop Bruce Matheson giving the invocation. A ladies trio consisting of Myrna Mitchell, Brenda Adams and Frankie Bentley sang, "In the Garden of Tomorrow," and "God's Other Room." They were accompanied by Itha Mortensen. Ramona Stubbs rendered a piano medley. A Eulogy was given by Bishop Boyd Mitchell and remarks by Bishop Hughes. The benediction was given by Jack Dalton and Carlyle Mitchell dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. Mor-tuary. Survivors include her husband of Parowan, two sons and a daughter: Donald N. Mitchell, Las Vegas, Nev.; Jay L. Winter, Buena Park, Calif, and Mrs. Duane (Charlene) Fowler, Burn-sville, Burn-sville, Minn. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. |
