The music department of Viewmont High School students know that tonight, Oct. 28, is the first night that their "Old Haunted Church" will be opened to the public at 7-10 p.m. Address, 1248 N., Main Street, Centerville. Everyone is invited to take an exploratory explora-tory trip through the old church Friday night, Saturday Satur-day night, and on Halloween. There will be all sorts of surprises and ' chilling experiences. Tickets will be $1 per person. Proceeds will be used to send Viewmont's musicians to Mexico to perform per-form during the Easter vacation. vaca-tion. The students and their leaders are eager to attend the music festival to show our neighbors to the south what a great place the Bountiful area is and especially Viewmont High School. It will be an opportunity op-portunity of a life time for the students and their leaders. It was a good time for Jon Lee and Debbie Ashby and others of the Viewmont band, when they participated in the Battle of the Bands at the U last weekend. Orchids to all of the young people who are using us-ing their time in worthwhile activities and who are learning learn-ing all they can each day! Time is precious to those who visit their loved ones in the hospital. Alt and Mary Cornia went to visit Alt's brother Owen, from Woodruff, who is hospitalized in Salt Lake, last Sunday. They were accompanied by Alt's brother Bill and wife Maurine, from Ogden. Earlier they had all attended the missionary farewell of a niece's boy, Jeff Turner, who is leaving from the Holladay Ward. We are sorry to learn that Clyde Campbell is ill. We hope that he'is soon much improved, especially before the West Bountiful Centennial Fair to be held Friday, Nov. 4, at the West Bountiful Second-Third Ward Cultural Hall at 6 p.m. There will be a banquet, a program, concessions, conces-sions, and many homemade items for sale. Mr. Campbell and his wife, have been chairmaning the affair. Everyone is invited, especially West Bountifulites, and former West Bountifulites. Boun-tifulites. Congratulations to Larry LaBelle and others of the South Davis Fire Department, Depart-ment, who helped to rescue a woman, who lives in Ruby Martin's home in Woods Cross. Kaye Gibson believes that now is the time for all people over 55 years of age in the . area to visit the Golden Years Center in Bountiful and to take advantage of its wonderful wonder-ful facilities. She says one must see them to believe them. There are possibilities 1 to learn, to have good companionship, com-panionship, to have good recreation, and to enjoy good ' meals. She is working as a volunteer volun-teer worker at the center. She really enjoys associating with Ruby Olsen at the Center. Kaye tells of an outstanding day that she enjoyed with her family a few weeks back. They all (Cindy and husband Craig, Susan and husband Clark and son Keith, Jane, and Rusty) took a picnic and journeyed to Snowbird. She reports that the scenery was fabulous and the ride on the tram was exhilarating and out-of-this-world. She recommends recom-mends the ride and the visit to everyone. She also reports that Susan and husband Clark were happy to have his father. Ferrin Despain of Axtell, come up to help him on the building of his new home on Porter's Lane, last week. His mother Elizabeth also came up to join in the good time. Jerry Stout took time out of his week to help greet a plane load of Korean orphans. Mabel and Lawrence Jepp-son Jepp-son are excitedly telling everyone of the arrival of their new baby daughter, who was born during the week. She joins a toddler sister, Errin. All of the Jeppsons are happy that Mabel's mother. Grandma Judd, is staying with them helping to get everyone settled. Aunt Carol Jeppson is having a lot of fun helping to take care of young Jonathan Jeppson, while his mother Jolene awaits the arrival of her new baby. Earl DeWaal and his father spent time deer hunting, while Mike DeWaal returned home early with his three point deer. The Third and Fourth Ward Young Men and Young Women had a ball as they celebrated their Halloween party this week. They came in custumes, ate dinner, and did some fancy square dancing. Tammy Freestone, daughter of Ellen and Bob Freestone and her husband Phil Edwards are enjoying life living in Jackson Hole, . Wyo. Best wishes to them! Rachel Noyes spends a lot of her time in doing good things for those more unfortunate unfor-tunate than she. This week she spent time making a Halloween pinata for the youth of the handicapped MIA. The Dan Mitchell family had their usual great experience with some of the boys from the American Fork Training School Monday night for family evening they took a pinata down to their cousin Frank Hayward, who is a resident of the Oak Cottage. Cot-tage. They had true joy as they saw the delight of the boys as they beat the pinata. They had tears in their eyes as they saw students doing magnanimous deeds for each other. They saw a lame boy who had trouble walking pushing a wheel chair for a boy without legs. The Mitchells were joined by the Dan Taylors, their daughter Tamson. and their son Derek. The Roy Miltons of Bountiful, Boun-tiful, son Steve, and family also came down to participate in the pinata birthday party. We're glad to note that the new road on Page's Lane is completed. We're also glad to note that the digging of the ditch on 11th West has begun. Maybe the drainage problems will be solved. Ron Bown, son of Olive Bown, had a good time and got much experience as he participated in the Cross Country Race Competition last week. He came in fifth place, but he'll be better off for the future. Viewmont High is glad he represents them. He also enjoyed attending the seminary conference last Mary and Wendell Wild have had a good week. Mary was entertaining relatives while Wendell was hunting. Grandma Colleen Wild visited from Tooele and Wendell s sister Marlleen Martin and children Wendy and Brent journeyed down from Ogden. Fridav night everyone got together at the home of Great Grandma Clara Packard in Salt Lake City. Wendell and Mary are glad to announce that Wendell's brother Randy Wild, is planning to be married Nov. 10 to Mary Ann Denny, of Murray. They say that they are going to make sure that he gets married this time. Everyone should remember that there is one more time to get registered for the Nov. 8 election. We hope that Bertha Page is soon much recovered. Everything she does with medicine seems to make her worse in some other way. We also hope that Ruby Evans is soon on the way to better health. The Earl Deppes enjoyed a visit to their son DeVon and family in Provo. DeVon is attending at-tending BYU. They also enjoyed en-joyed visiting with the girls from Florida, who are attending at-tending the Y. They are friends of their missionary daughter JoyLyn, who is a missionary in Hialeah, Fla. |
