Show REPUBLICAN BANQUET ON LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY Lincoln's birthday was observed by 300 Republicans at a banquet in the Commercial club last evening. Following Follow-ing the banquet, a program of toasts and musical numbers was carried out. , James Clove of Provo acted as toast-master. toast-master. The Rev. Benjamin Young spoke on "Abraham Lincoln, the Great Commoner," paying a glowing tribute to the memory of the martyred President. Presi-dent. Gov. John C. Cutler responded to the toast. "The State of Utah." Arthur L. Thomas, who followed the Governor, had for his subject "Our Country." and LeRoy Armstrong told something of Lincoln's personality. The agitation for a State eritol was commented on hv Stephen H. Love. President of the Senate, and Judge M. L. Ritchie followed with a talk on the judiciary. "The Republican Newspaper" News-paper" wss the toast James H. Anderson Ander-son responded to, and Harrv Joseph, Speaker of the House, told about Utah's mineral wealth. j |
